Howdy - Using FC3 RC5 updated as of today. I had to disconnect my external USB 2.0 HP DVD Writer in order to get FC3 installed, otherwise I got a fatal oops at installation time. Now that FC3 is installed, I am trying to use said DVD+RW drive. When I plug it in I see this: Nov 5 14:10:29 thomas kernel: usb 1-1: new high speed USB device using address 2 Nov 5 14:10:29 thomas kernel: scsi3 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Nov 5 14:10:29 thomas kernel: Vendor: HP Model: DVD Writer 200j Rev: 1.13 Nov 5 14:10:29 thomas kernel: Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Nov 5 14:10:29 thomas scsi.agent[6618]: cdrom at /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1e.0/0000:04:03.2/usb1/1-1/1-1:2.0/host3/3:0:0:0 Nov 5 14:10:29 thomas kernel: sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 32x/32x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray However, usbview, grip and XCDroast do not see the drive. It works flawlessly in FC2. I do see it in /proc/bus/usb/devices though: T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=480 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=03f0 ProdID=0507 Rev= 3.10 S: Manufacturer=Hewlett-Packard S: Product=USB Storage Adapter S: SerialNumber=0000000000035117 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 2 Atr=c0 MxPwr= 98mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=08(stor.) What do I need to do to use this drive? -- A: Because people read from top to bottom. Q: Why is top-posting bad? Thomas Cameron, RHCE, CNE, MCSE, MCT
