Well, scratch that - I just tried to upgrade my laptop to Rawhide
offline and the upgrade died halfway through in much the same way. And
now the system is half-upgraded with a bunch of dupes installed, and
the network isn't working. Owch. Someone definitely broke something,
here.

Was updating an Xfce spin of Rawhide, and part way through the update I
was thrown back to the greeter. I logged back in and tried to run the
update again but was being blocked by another process (note the system
didn't reboot).
I did a "ps ax" to see what was going on and here is the end bit:
