Some wi-fi vendors don't have open source drivers (as I understand it), and you have to install proprietary drivers from the vendor so they will work with linux. > I do have a question about Fedora or maybe Linux in general. > > Is there any possible way that something I do on my computer, could > bork my DSL modem ? I am guessing, but I would suspect that there was an update in the network stack, and it was incompatible with the old versions. The reboot put everything back into sync. That's why some desktops do reboots after every update. > P.S. On a sad note, my estranged-wife threw a psychotic fit today, > because she does > not have MSWord, and she thinks I should fix it. If it boots to a gui, and she knows how to use a mouse and keyboard, she can learn to read e-mail, use office-libre, firefox, etc. > I can't imagine stretching the budget enough to get her a Apple > computer. See if you can find someone upgrading for a better gaming experience because their system is a few years old. Probably get a discount for a system that is still great for general use.
