There are some scattered reports of flicker at gdm/login, and I've experienced this also. I'm not actually sure whether these bugs are getting attention because they haven't gotten any developer responses. Such a bug with component set to gdm https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1199890 And a similar bug which is set to wayland https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1200581 The fact this is affecting i915 graphics suggests it could be more widespread than the lack of "me too" reports suggest.
