I probably shouldn't have used dmesg to describe it. It's the kernel
message log. There's a dmesg command to view it and there used to be a
/var/log/dmesg file.
There are several options to view the kernel message log:
dmesg
grep kernel: /var/log/messages
journalctl -b _TRANSPORT=kernel
