Not familiar with that printer.....

Running "hp-setup" ....  After selecting "Network/Ethernet/Wireless network" did you "Show Advanced Options" and then check "Manual Discovery" and enter the IP address?

You can ping the printer?

Also, you should be able to.....

telnet printer.ip 9100    with 9100 being the first jetdirect port.

[egreshko@meimei ~]$ telnet hp 9100
Trying 192.168.0.195...
Connected to hp.
Escape character is '^]'.
^]
telnet> close
Connection closed.
