What I have found, through beta, is that hostnamectl is reliable if you use
the static option

hostnamectl set-hostname --static myhost.mydomain.com

If you don't use --static, it will set it as myhostmydomaincom

It _seems_ (haven't verfied on more than one install) that even once this
is done, /etc/sysconfig/network remains at the default of
localhost.localdomain.com but is ignored.

As for setting during install, I think they haven't gotten that one
finished yet, if they have, I've missed it.
