You should respect the work of others before demanding respect of anyone or of their html coding choices - and you should respect the opinions of others.
Level of respect appropriate AOT depends on the context of the opinion, and the qualifications of he who makes one. For purposes of this thread topic, the problems described have 0 to do with HTML.
My comment was, irrespective of the artistic and technical merits and demerits of fedoraproject.org, that it is a very well designed site from my perspective *_as_*_a_*_web_*_surfer_* (except, again as I mentioned earlier, for the fact that it doesn't have a search option). The underlying html may or may not be in need to be optimized or cleaned up but the end result is very good.
Again, _design_ is here orthogonal to HTML, and as web surfer providing no citations to back up your opinion or contradict my statements, yours is pure useless opinion. Pretty != well-designed. Pretty != usable. Pretty != accessible. Pretty ~= bling, which more often reduces usability than enhances it.
All that said, there are some basic fedoraproject style features that are better than average. It's just that it has the foundational flaws as I described in both words and picture.
