Wish you and yours a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.
Just finished updating F-16. The update rendered the system inoperable. Will re-install an test.
Will keep you informed.
I have been using Fedora since Version 3. I think that F-16 was rushed out without lacking sufficient testing.
The QA standards should be raise.
Cheers

Thanks for your quick reply.
I have not tried it. Anyway I will give it a try and let you know. ( Work will keep me away until tomorrow).
It is a shame that this type of issues are ignored. Many potential users are turned away when their first run after installation locks up the box requiring a hard reboot
Thanks again. On 11/23/2011 10:54 AM, ergodic wrote:Did you try setting nouveau.noaccel=1 on the kernel line? I had problems with the nouveau drivers, posted repeatedly to bugzilla, but no luck. Only turning off acceleration for nouveau seemed to let me run at all, but even then I would experience the occasional crash.Nouveau problem. Multi-booting F-15 and F-16. Nouveau works perfectly in in F15, but it does not wok in F-16. I have filed a bug against it (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=755336).!
Excerpts from bug report:
-Four clean install attempts
-The first boot crashes the system after the request to send hardware
information. A hardware reset is needed to recover. Restarts in VESA mode only.
-Installing nVidia proprietary drivers in F-16 allows Gnome3 operation.
Have anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions?
Thanks.
