I am using Xfce tho, not gnome. The old focus issue was due to a side-effect of a work-around for https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=653061 which had caused Claws Mail to start minimized. That bug is still not fixed in GNOME Shell, but we have switched to a different work-around. That work-around only takes out a single line of code, so Claws Mail does not even try to start minimized. Filing a ticket would be a start.
