Hans can correct me here but I believe that the prefered location is
/var/games/colossus.  The reference for that is here:
  http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Games/Packaging

Those aren't official packaging guidelines but they are rules that the games
SIG has worked out as best practices for things they've packaged.

The config really should be in /etc.  There are a few legacy packages that
have config in /var but we probably want to fix those eventually rather than
have more.
