(google kmdl2 doesn't lead anywhere) It's the kmdl API with more encapsulated parts (e.g. even smaller specfiles) and a shifting helper package removing the neccessity of yum plugins and thus working the same on yum/apt/smart/any depsolver. There is also a dkmdl subsystem to make dkms users happy It's not yet released though as my real life has gotten in the way.
