For EL4 & EL5 you need a vendor. you can handle it in this way: desktop-file-install %{SOURCE1} \ %if 0%{?rhel} --vendor="" \ %endif --dir=%{buildroot}%{_datadir}/applications I used this for my package(s), but i don´t know, if this an official way to handle it. Perhaps we should ask in -packaging or -devel or -epel list(s) first?!
