The forked bindgen is going to be a necessity for a good while; the patch that
bcachefs requires is a hack that would not be acceptable to upstream, and a
proper fix is going to require digging into rustc.

That will happen, but it'll probably be ~six months out. And it's only a build
dependency, not a runtime dependency.

If Fedora is going to attempt to be turning every cargo dependency into a
separate RPM package - it's open source, you are of course free too if you
want, but that won't be an upstream supported approach.
