And is it likely that any other packages would want to use it and rely on it? >From what I understand, the prohibition against bundling is so that everyone who might depend on the code can benefit when bugs and security holes get patched. If no one else is liable to use it then it sounds like you're good to go with the bundled version. The exception might be if the code is used for security purposes in lizardfs and we could benefit from sharing any such fixes and patches with other distros, e.g. Debian, when they arise. Out of curiosity, why does Debian have this library packaged?
