I've had that cause problems for other packages that expect a Unicode environment. Try this: %check export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 # Run both versions of nosetests. nosetests-%{python2_version} -v nosetests-%{python3_version} -v That works for me, although you also have to add BuildRequires: python2-six and BuildRequires: python3-six.
