As of today, the only use it provides is to check ---when the configure script is run--- whether rodent modules are already installed to a different --prefix. When this occurs, a warning is triggered by the configure script. This helps developers avoid rodent version mixups. Thus the utility of rodent.pc is currently limited to those who are building and installing from source.
