I have never had any problem caused by having %{?_isa} in BuildRequires, and I have had many problems caused by not having them. I strongly disagree with you on this. Especially for multiarch, having %{?_isa} is essential for getting the build dependencies right - without it, it is completely broken in this case. If you are building on x86-64 and have a BR on e.g. zlib-devel, this BR can be satisfied by zlib-devel(x86-32), and nothing will complain if zlib-devel(x86-64) is not installed if you try to build. I have never seen any problem in koji with it.
