Which problem is this trying to > resolve? > > Without this "Conflicts:", I would likely have approved these packages ;) If you look at the upstream site: http://pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr/packages.html it says that the elldata package requires "PARI/GP 2.2.11 and up", or in other words, it's not compatible with earlier versions of pari.
