The redhat-lsb thing is problematic, yes - but on the other hand parsing /etc/fedora-release directly is just miserable. I'll see if I can come up with a better solution. The symlink works for me. This may well be some hilarious difference in behaviour between different firmware releases, but I'll look into it more. Finding the appropriate mount point automatically is possible but an utter pain. It's not high on my list of priorities.
