According to this page "The Songbird project currently has limited resources, so we can only provide Windows and Mac OS X builds. Fortunately, our developer community rocks and has stepped up", so the project is still alive for Linux in some form (which is why FOSS is cool). *Simply unpacking the generic binary tarball for x86_64 seems to work almost flawlessly here on my Fedora 13 machine for version 1.7.3 so far.
