Thanks for the feedback Brian - this is great.
The menu hierarchy is derived from the Categories: section of the .desktop file, hence some overlap/incorrect placement in some menus.
To address this we should raise bugs against the package in question, and have the maintainer alter the categories accordingly. Suggesting the correct category would be ideal here (the maintainer may have no idea which one to choose for it to appear in which menu).
I guess the my real question is this then: What will it take to get them to add a "Pro Audio" category that's on the same level as the "Multimedia" heading, similar to what they've done with the "Graphics" heading for programs similar to GIMP and the like. I think there's enought packages geared toward this goal that having our own section is justified. Is that something we can bring up with the devel group? Can we just file bug reports against packages suggesting that it be under Applications / Pro Audio and they'll create it on their own?
I would hate to file bug reports to get it under Applications/MultiMedia/Creation only to have them change it a week later to Applications/*New Group*
Are we ok calling it Pro Audio? I think it's a pretty music industry standard term. Plus I don't think certain programs should be mixing... Like having kmix and Ardour in the same group may make it confusing for our endusers.
