I'm not totally in disagreement here - free is better. However, why
do you need to recreate it? You can't recreate a photograph.
Suppose I would want to make my own Fedora fan page and want to put a
header with "my fedora fan page" on top of it with the same font face.
For images, you can probably use and modify svg or png which should be
appropriately licensed. how about text?
