Simply because I haven't found out the answers to the questions. ;) Maybe if I had hung out on IRC for a long time, maybe then I would have collected better information on "who does what?" and other questions everybody in FESCo should be interested in. A few more examples: "Kicking" build servers: It has never been clear to me who besides Dan Williams (dcbw) has special access to the build server master and clients and where reporting about temporary problems would be preferred. Recently, OTRS has been mentioned multiple times (and even suggested by a FESCo/FPB member) without information on who exactly can be reached there. Why do we need to guess? Why the confusion? Somebody at fedora.us once wrote something like "I felt like a 5 year old boy at X-mas when I read that -- when has that been decided?", referring to lack of communication between decision makers and contributors. And indeed, I am reminded of that whenever I see something relevant and think "why hasn't this been announced anywhere?" and "am I expected to monitor many more mailing-lists to stay informed about things that affect us?". Packages dropped from FC: There are package inter-dependencies between Extras and Core. Still it happens that communication about removal of packages from Core is sparse or non-existant. Same applies to ABI/API upgrades. We do have fedora-maintainers list. Post short warnings there, please. FE roadmap: FC6 comes nearer. But while on fedora-maintainers list there are topics about Core mass rebuilds, there is silence (or hard to find information?) about how/when to bring Extras in shape. The Schedule page contains a tiny comment, vague plans. Talking about quorum: Whenever I attended a FESCO meeting on IRC, there were only half of the members present or less thereof. And whenever I didn't find the time, there were also only at most half of the members present. Apart from such examples, FESCo's mailing list appeared to me like /dev/null [1] several times as well as /dev/zero (whenever input has come in from unknown sources - IRC? - and entered the Schedule page without notice, so at the beginning of a meeting I learned about topics I haven't seen before). I didn't know whether I was expected to monitor the Wiki page instead of proper communication on-list. [1] e.g. "Subject: ExcludeArch for noarch (was: Re: nx requires and provides)" and if somebody with the proper privileges could visit "Subject: [PATCH] Re: cvs-import.sh fails to resurrect dead branches" thanks in advance. -- fedora-extras-list mailing list fedora-extras-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-extras-list
