During the past 2-3 weeks or so, gcc and sed have been deadlocking
during FE6 builds in our plague+mock based Extras buildsys. This has
been happening consistently when building certain packages, and always
the i386 arch deadlocking. Our attempts of getting any useful info from
strace or gdb have failed.
Our x86_64 Extras buildsys hosts appear to be FC3 with
kernel-2.6.12-1.1376_FC3smp. Meanwhile we haven't seem to run into
similar deadlock problems of our FC6 mock builds inside of Red Hat,
where the host is RHEL4 U3. Several of us suspect some kind of kernel
problem on the buildhosts.
Here are the next steps that I am trying:
1) Testing those builds on our existing FC3 buildhosts, but with RHEL4
kernels.
2) Testing those builds on Red Hat's internal buildsys, which is also
mock based but with RHEL4 hosts.
I am proceeding to install RHEL4 kernels and rebooting the Extras build
hosts now.
All 3 hammer Extras buildsys machines are now running RHEL4 kernels.
gurlchecker seems to have built successfully. Please try the other
packages and let this thread know if you run into any more trouble
related to this.
