I see it as follows: Some people don't seem to have understood the difference between bootstrapping a distro from scratch and incrementally building a distro. FE has been built incrementally without having the appropriate infrastructure/QA in place. Now some people try to "clean up the mess" by shooting with the proverbial canon at the proverbial sparrows" (German proverb). In the end you will be facing a similar mess as before, some things will be have been ironed out but new ones will be introduced, because the appropriate infrastructure still is not available.
