I also don't think there needs to be any type of time frame to moving up to commit and publishing access either. So it could be a week, 6 months, or longer, whenever the person is ready to do the work that is asked of them. If someone is willing to work hard and learn what needs to be done, then like Ben said, there should be some sort of compensation for it.
