Your step 3 should really be step 4. The real step 3 is
Step 3. Will suggesting this change cause more waste of time on useless
discussions than any perceived gain that the change will achieve.
a) YES-> Rethink step 2 or drop it. It will get in the way of more
pressing issues. Winning is not worth the cost.
b) NO -> go to step 4
