Well, I'm surprised.  More than a little, even.

A look at Fedora's libtool package shows that a patch to address this
issue is still being applied.  Having heard of this issue for some time,
I'd assumed it had been addressed upstream by now. :-/

While one way to address this is to patch ltmain.sh (with one that looks
a whole lot like the aforementioned patch that is applied to libtool),
an easier and less invasive way to address this is to use the installed
libtool script:

        make LIBTOOL=/usr/bin/libtool
