Hi,
I have some services found being activated by default that should be
removed for the following reasons:
1. sendmail: starts way too slow,
Sendmail startup should only be slow if your dns is broken or you've
removed the localhost entry from your hosts file. Either of those
needs to be fixed anyway.
the slow part is the aliases generation.
anyone not using their machine as a mail server really doesn't need
sendmail ;(
("slow" is relative, for me, anything taking more than 0.5 seconds is
slow)
So waiting during bootup for 2 minutes for sendmail to look up it's own
{non-existent} ip address inside a nat network, then another minute for
sm-client to do the same wouldn't be acceptable to you then ?
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks delays above a second should be
improved: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238308
