People have to care enough to do abide by sane SCM policies, I grant you
that.  I think a large enough number will agree to them that it's worth
the effort.

This isn't an all or nothing exercise.  If a few big projects sign on,
then we've made a net win.  Since I already know the kernel can use
this, and of course I'm relatively certain every InfiniBand package,
including all of the still active MPI stacks, will agree to it, and
Colin is bringing up Gnome....really, how much more do you need to think
it would be worthwhile?  Personally, I'm sold even if only the mentioned
packages take us up on it.
