banshee-0.99.2-2.fc10 ['440860 ASSIGNED'] (build/make) nigelj,spot
Technically this would have built from source, per 448365 which is the
new FTBFS bug for banshee, I've closed 440860 because it is to say the
least useless. <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=448365>
One thing to note is:
a) I was not aware of 440860 when I adopted (I should have changed the
owner when I adopted it (oops))
b) Upon checking koji, it would have been possible to note that banshee
had built from source on Apr 13
c) imo it's a 'bad thing' to mark bugs as 'ASSIGNED' without at the very
least also hitting 'Reassign bug to owner and QA contact of selected
component'
Now I'm not targeting anyone but just suggesting that maybe some extra
consideration needs to be taken into account for these sort of bugs, and
potentially a couple of changes in practice, i.e.:
* Never mark a bug as ASSIGNED (a BugZappers opinion on a bug my be
completely different from the Maintainers)
* When bugs haven't been touched by the assignee, hit the Reassign bug
to owner button just in case the maintainer has changed since then
* If you decide to BugZap FTBFS bugs, check if they still FTBFS (i.e.
look in koji).
Just some thoughts,
- Nigel
