I *hope* you're saying "I'd do that in a hearbeat, without blinking."

Partly because I want to see you try to package and maintain X.

I *have* done so, locally, for my own benefit, during the
modularisation effort. I can assure that while it eases maintenance in
the long term when it comes to updating small parts of the
infrastructure (new driver -> one new, small package to build and for
people to download) you do *not* want to try to maintain it yourself,
unsupported.

Seriously.

Of course, you *could* just go ahead and prove me wrong. Looking
forward to seeing your announcement of the distro fork ...
