Which means I'm curious why NM wasn't bringing up the network. Do you have any ifcfg-* files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ ? Do you have ONBOOT=yes in your ifcfg files? Would also be good to get /var/log/messages after it's booted up to see what's going on.
