Imho .spec.in would be a better name. Btw. it seems that you spec would not 
work with releases like:

0.1.pre2%{?dist}

1%{?dist}.1
to update a package in FN without it being newer that the package in FN+1 with 
release 1%{?dist}.

And also not scm snapshots.
