Did you read the other postings in this thread? Your answers sounds to me, that you think I proposed, that vim should open a gtk window whenever it can. But this is not what I suggested. When you run the gvim binary as vim, then it opens in the terminal you are logged in and does not open a graphical window. Also it does not look anything other than the current vim-enhanced vim binary and I do not feel that the startup time is higher. Regards, Till
