Well, there is also the issue that JACK module was not re added to PulseAudio until 0.9.8. It was taken out of the 0.9.7 release, and people who NEED that functionality should have the JACK module support in PulseAudio.

I don't see how the code in 0.9.7-0.17.svn20071017.fc8 could possibly
be considered very close to 0.9.8, seeing as any SVN snapshot from
2007-10-17 is almost two weeks before 0.9.7 was tagged/released on
2007-10-30.
