Sorry if I am writing to the wrong list, but I think this kind of information
can be useful for the developers.
While we're at it, here's a couple more. When I play music with audacious and then also play Freeciv, when Freeciv should make the sound of gunfire, it instead makes a hair-raising screech. Both applications sound fine when used separately. Using them together worked with F7.
Also, XEmacs now crashes any time it tries to make a sound:

As I noted in the bug report, that may be my fault somehow, but if so, I don't know how. My code is checking the return value of snd_pcm_hw_params(), so if something is wrong, it ought to return a negative number, not crash the whole application.
