So the problem with tomcat was in F7... I was looking at devel branch -
quite sure about tomcat5 being the same version in f9/f8 and f7.

[oliver@pils tomcat5]$ grep Version: *.spec; grep spec CVS/Entries
Version: 5.5.25
/tomcat5.spec/1.102/Fri Nov 16 09:13:52 2007/-ko/

I should have asked koji:

[oliver@pils tomcat5]$ koji latest-pkg f8-final tomcat5
Build Tag Built by
----------------------------- -------------------- ----------------
tomcat5-5.5.23-9jpp.4.fc8 f8-final vivekl
[oliver@pils tomcat5]$ koji latest-pkg dist-f9 tomcat5
Build Tag Built by
----------------------------- -------------------- ----------------
tomcat5-5.5.25-1jpp.1.fc9 dist-f9 devrim
