This seems not to be common knowledge, because afaik even Fedora Maintainers
use Rawhide on a system, where they create new packages.

Imho it is a big benefit, because it is very easy for a mirror maintainer to
change a package. Also someone who breaks into a mirror can easily cause
heavy damage. And last but not least, the manipulation of the package can
also happen on the connection to the mirror, e.g. on conferences with
free/open wifi/internet access.

Much the same like mine, but more complete and added 'features' like the
bypass stuff!

Good work!

User space packages (alsa 1.0.15) are here:

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=22680

If the updated kernel is included in F8 please add them there, too.

And it's totally unrealistic because the only people who're going to
sit before a test box without real data are people paid for testing
(ie not community contributors).

You can't have it both ways - either you pay people to do testing on
fake safe data (very expensive), or you have volunteers testing on
their own systems (with their own data), and you have to work a
minimum so you only eat this data in very rare cases.

And even kernel.org does it so anyone who feels autosigning packages
before uploading to the root mirrors is "unprofessional" can complain
on LKML and get educated :).

Nautilus in Solaris 10 has ACL support. I don't know if patches were
submitted upstream.

Subject: hibernation
Hi,

is hibernation working for other people currently ?

I installed test3 on my new T61, and am running 2.6.23.1-35.fc8, but
when I choose "hibernate" from the logout menu, it hibernates just fine,
and goes to sleep, but on the next boot it just boots the kernel without
restoring state.  This worked fine in F7.

If it's me and not a general problem, how do I debug it further ? Is
there some docs on how this is supposed to be working in Fedora ?

Thomas

Authoritatively, the action for backspace should be to do nothing on
Linux.  This was discussed with the GNOME usability guy, Sun, Novell,
and Mozilla a bit ago and was checked in as per the bug you posted.  It
appears that it is still not in the 2.x branch though other distros such
have patched it in, with a quick glance.

I guess having had this set in my local preferences for ages, I sort of
forgot about it in the 2.x branch.  I am okay with turning this pref to
do nothing even though it will be last minute as this is what upstream
has decided and will be in future versions of Firefox as it best matches
the platform convention.

that was a blocker:

--------------------------------

* Bug 335161: ASSIGNED - triad (Linus Walleij)
- multilib file conflicts in gnokii

Fix was incomplete, needs a rebuild. This prevents people from being
able to yum upgrade from F8Test3 to F8 final.

or are you talking about the "better fix" ?

Subject: dangling symlinks in rpm packages for Fedora-devel
Hello all,

here the output of a test script that checks all rpm packages
for dangling symlinks. It does not look at an installed system,
but only at files included within rpm packages, so there are
a few false reports here for files/dirs created within scripts.

Output is against a current Fedora-devel tree. I welcome help to
review this list, so remaining items can be looked at during the
F9 devel phase.

Florian La Roche
