It's just like old times... NetworkManager destroys the possibility to
connect. If you service NetworkManager stop it and restart
wpa_supplicant by hand, here at least it works. I had it turned off anyway.
But there is another bug in mac80211 or iwlwifi... when iwlwifi
registers its capabilities with mac80211, the order matters. As it
stands, iwlwifi will only connect at 802.11b speeds, ie, 11Mbps. If you
swap the order of the registration:
