That's the point where he should use gentoo and not fedora.

But he isn't just using Fedora, he has a bunch of not very compatible OS installs of varying ages, and he would need to work around this change one way or another. I didn't miss the joke but if he could actually use Gentoo or anything else that was the same on all the boxes that would indeed solve his problem.
