But then let's add : Installation time detection and support for the BIOS resolutions overriding (since IIRC it's a configuration directive in xorg.conf). Ideally, this would mean that if the installer detects a native screen resolution that isn't in the list of BIOS advertised resolutions, then if the driver (typically intel, do others do the same?) allows resolution overriding, then the user should be prompted which resolution to override with the native one. This is because once one is overridden, it can't be switched to anymore, and some might be useful for games or full screen applications, or most importantly external displays.
