open DRM failed (Operation not permitted)

Hi,

With yesterday's updates, all the needed bits to enable DRI acceleration
with ATI graphics adapters sporting a R300 chipset were back in
Rawhide.

Unfortunately, on my Itanium workstation with an ATI FireGL X1 graphics
adapter, I'm getting "open DRM failed (Operation not permitted)" when
I'm invoking glxinfo or glxgears (for example). I already experienced
this problem before the R300 bits were removed from Rawhide
(https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2006-
February/msg01324.html). From Xorg.0.log, DRM seems to be initialized
properly. I've checked the permissions on the /dev/dri/card0 file, they
seem to be OK:

crw------- emeric root system_u:object_r:dri_device_t card0

(as user emeric)

Mike Harris didn't see this problem before and suggested me that it may
be due to udev, so I've filed a bug on bugzilla
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=184045). Altering
the rules as suggested there didn't help.

Disabling SELinux as advised in this post
(http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-test-list/2006-
February/msg01681.html) didn't help. I have a Section DRI in my
xorg.conf file (mode 0666). stracing glxinfo as in this post
(http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-test-list/2006-
February/msg01638.html) shows a similar error.

Any idea what's going wrong?

Many thanks,

	Émeric
