If you learn to respect the goals of the Fedora project without calling its maintainers zealots, you'll find Fedora is quite open to pragmatic decisions. This is evidenced by how many people are using it quite productively. Please don't think you need to swoop in to save Fedora from itself, it's already happily accomplishing its objectives. For example, it is doing quite well without containing pointers to third party repositories in the core distribution. Don't expect that to change, the core will remain unblemished by proprietary products or reference links. If you can find a way to work happily within those constraints, happy hunting.
