Thanks for the tip, but I just tried putting the sata drive on the
sata_sil controller (as a single drive, "JBOD") and the FC5 installer
still doesn't find any drive after having loaded the sata_sil module.

I can boot from the sata drive on that controller too, but again, even
after loading sata_sil from the initrd, it doesn't find the drive,
complains about /dev/root not found etc. and panics.

Seems like I'm really stuck as none of sata_nv, sata_sil or the normal ata
seem to work with recent kernels.

Any other pointers to stuff to test (even kernel patches, updated modules
etc.) would be very welcome.
