For SMP systems, this kind of bug has been around for ages, see my almost prehistoric bug report from 2001: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=55223 The kernel got finally fixed in November 2005 and is broken again since January 2006. Curious to see, that UP systems are now hit, too.
