It sounds like it's something trying to test under a GUI; rather than
try to avoid the test, try using Xvfb to satisfy it. Add a
BuildRequires: Xvfb xauth
and then wrap tests with (possibly moving them to a script to call):
xvfb-run -a -w1 [check command]
