X11 DDX was remove because, IIRC someone 10 years ago claim that nobody
use it. i.e. As far as I understand the propose of dropping X11 DDX it
was because we have replacement and nobody use it for years etc, so it
was approved. I think if we readd the code, we don't have reason to not
work and is just revert this commit [1] . If we need it for nvidia
340xx legacy drive.

That commit you point out is about the removal of the Xdmx server, the distributed Multihead X server, i.e. connecting multiple Xservers through the network to create a new one, a different thing, I doubt the NVIDIA driver ever required that.
