Re: Maintaining erlang-xmpp

Greetings,

If I read the history correctly, your pull request went without reply, then automation or mass operation retired erlang-xmpp because it failed to install. So obviously the maintainer had left the package without care.

Retiring the package was of course not efficient, I would have been much better to hand the package over to you and let you fix it.

Hopefully, we can recover and give the package to you. The right thing to do now is to submit a package review request to unretire erlang-xmpp. These links explain how to do it:

<https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/package-maintainers/New_Package_Process_for_New_Contributors/>

<https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/package-maintainers/Package_Retirement_Process/#claiming>

<https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/package-maintainers/Package_Review_Process/>

I am not a packager sponsor myself, so I cannot sponsor you. However, I suggest you do push the fixes for all the packages you need to fix eventually. The more links you have to demonstrate you understand Fedora packaging, the easier it will be to find a sponsor. I understand it is not very motivating to have your first pull request ignored. Please be patient, that was not because of you or the pull request content. Most probably the single person who had been taking care of the package, including processing pull requests, had left.

Asking for sponsors on the list is a valid way to do that. So are tagging FE-NEEDSPONSOR in a review request and filing a sponsorship ticket at:
